School of Continuing Education

Established in March, 2003, the school of continuing education of BTVU has a distinctive role in developing and offering further education, in-service training, Non-diploma Education, Education for Senior Citizens and Community Education. In recent years, taking the advantages of distant education and e-learning of BTVU, the school of continuing education has organized the program such as the National Computer Grade Examination for the usage of software and accountancy, various training for professional qualification certification, ZHE, trainings for adult English Examinations successfully.

From the very beginning of its founding, the continuing education school of BTVU has provided abundant qualified resources and services to the municipal government institutions, enterprises, communities.

In active cooperation, the Beijing Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Labor and Security and the China Central TVU, the school of the continuing education has implemented smoothly the project, “Quality Education for Capital Workers".

Active cooperation with the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, taking full advantages of TVU system of distance multi-media learning means, the school has carried out the project "Training for primary school teachers in spoken English proficiency" and thus has improved primary and secondary school teachers’ teaching skills in Beijing. Actively cooperated with the Beijing Municipal CPC Committee, the building of spiritual civilization cooperation with the Office of the Commission, the school has jointly shot 10-episode TV series "Came to Beijing" to train about 4 million off-farm workers.

In 2006, the continuing education school launched the community education and set up the community network station to offer people learning chance and good services. In the same year because of its excellent performance, the school was awarded the title “National TVU Excellent Education Unit”.

In the future, the school will continue to stick to characteristics of open TVU， actively explore the continuing education model and expand the project in continuing education and training program. Meanwhile we will integrate the plentiful resources and qualified teaching staff, take full use of the multimedia teaching means , joint government institutions, enterprises and the communities to provide quality training services to people.

Lifelong education is founded on the basis of the integration education, awareness of the diversity of its difference from the traditional teaching methods. Lifelong education integrates the Distance education, breaks the barriers to access to life-long education and provides people with diverse program so that people can fully develop their own unique, creative, guarantee access to space. BTVU has committed in lifelong education persistently and make full use of modern distance education to offer various services to the Capital people. First, reinforce the publicity and research work to enable Beijing to act as the study center for communities. With the help of the media, the School of the Continuing Education will create fine conditions for the people study in the community education center and meanwhile promote the successful methods to serve people.

Second, taking the advantages of BTVU in distance education, BTVU will become the center of the new and outstanding community education resources, create good community education platform, multi-level, multi-form of a variety of community education activities for the community residents of the initiative, a comprehensive, harmonious and sustainable development and the creation of adequate conditions.

Thirdly, set up the training network in Beijing community education center. In order to meet the need of the community education center, BTVU will employ various system such as radio broadcasting TV, network stations, computers, multimedia and VCD etc. to improve the community education and set up the study platform for the people.

Finally, developing the education training is the basis of the community education. BTVU has attached great importance to various training programs. In the future, instead of delivering plentiful training materials, it will organize various training project to satisfy the needs of the students and enable BTVU to help students to realize the lifelong education.
